Great School Field Trips
The Kauffman Foundation
Based on our experience in the space and knowledge of new school advocates, Getting Smart has supported The Kauffman Foundation’s KC Great Schools initiative by designing and executing a series of city school field trips that provide powerful learning experiences for attendees. Each field trip is designed to create a unique and memorable experience for participants that highlight learning experiences that are next-gen, highly personalized, blended and competency-based. Included in each trip, is a structure for facilitated reflection and time for the development of next steps. Ask About AI
Artificial Intelligence (AI) will have more influence on the lives and livelihoods of young people over the next few decades than any other factor. While AI will help address our most pressing problems, it has the potential to exacerbate gaps in society and pose existential threats. Our #AskAboutAI campaign investigates the implications that AI will have on employment, learning and ethical issues–a conversation around how we can shape a future that works for everyone. This is an active campaign, if you would like to contribute to this discussion by submitting blogs, topic ideas, relevant reports, photos and/or podcast ideas, click here to learn more.
The Power of Place
The Carnegie Foundation
By researching and sharing student, teacher and thought leader perspectives on the benefits of Place-Based Education (PBE), how PBE addresses issues of equity and access, the relevance of PBE to personalized learning movement and entry points to PBE implementation, this project explores why integrating schools and communities to leverage the “power of place” can equip–through authentic experiences–students with the tools and skills they need to collaborate, think critically and solve complex challenges. This campaign included a year long blog series, several podcasts, 3 publications and a social media campaign. To learn more or to download resources, head to our campaign page.
